Introduction to Sigd Festival

Sigd is a significant Jewish holiday observed by the Beta Israel community, also known as the Ethiopian Jews. It is celebrated 50 days after Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement. Sigd holds immense cultural and religious significance, symbolizing the bond between the Ethiopian Jewish community and their ancestral homeland, Israel.

The Beta Israel community traces its origins back to ancient times and has a rich and fascinating history. Believed to be descended from the lost tribe of Dan, they experienced isolation from other Jewish communities for centuries in Ethiopia.
